Players on a team must be from any club within the playoff district and cannot participate in more than one district at playoff level in the same year.
Each team participating in district playoffs shall pay a set fee as determined by district and $40.00 from each entry is to be sent to the Golden Gals Provincial organization. Each district or team representative(s) are responsible for the $100.00 donation and $40.00 entry fee payable to Golden Gals Curling Association.
The Province shall be divided into twelve districts. The districts may amalgamate for district play and play will result in sixteen winners. In Provincial play, the four districts with the greatest number of entries from the previous year shall be eligible for two representatives. Should a district be unable to participate and not declare a winner and therefore make the draw uneven, the next district with the most entries shall be eligible for two representatives. In the event of a tie, a draw will be made by the Provincial Board.
Each district shall choose a district chairperson. The district chairperson shall organize the district playoff as outlined in the rules.
Each district shall declare a winner/s by a date suitable to Provincials Host Committee. The winners’ names shall immediately be forwarded to the Golden Gals President, Secretary and to the Host Club.
District winners must compete in a semi-modified knockout draw or whatever type of draw works for the number of rinks participating.
For district playoffs, if a member becomes incapacitated through illness or unavoidable circumstances, a spare from that district shall play in any position on a team. Two spares may play.
In the event that illness or accident occurs during a game compelling a member of a team to withdraw, the spare, if available, will be allowed to enter the game immediately. Should the incapacitated player resume curling, each player shall return to her original position.
In district playoffs, a team still in competition may use a spare who has already played and lost. Before Provincial play commences, a spare must be named. This spare does not have to be the spare who played at district level.
In Provincial playoffs, in the event a member becomes incapacitated through illness, fatigue, or unavoidable circumstances, two spares from their own district may be used as long as there are two members of the original rink. The original team is defined as the four players curling the first game in district playoffs. The spare replacement may play any position and must have competed in district playoffs.
All matters not dealt with in the rules shall be governed by rules as set down by the MCA.
The Golden Gals Association shall not be responsible for any accidents or injuries during the playoffs.
Districts and Provincial playoffs shall be eight ends. There will be no bell in Provincial playoffs.
A game may be called at any time by the losing team or by the umpire, if there is no mathematical chance of the losing team winning.
When an extra end is required, the same shall continue in the line of play.
Score cards are to be used in Provincial playoff games and are to be signed by the winning skip at the end of each game and handed to the umpire or designated official.
In Provincial play there may be designated an assistant umpire and he/she shall not interfere unless asked to do so by a team involved. The designated person will measure rocks.
The two vice skips shall decide by tossing a coin to determine which rink shall have first rock in the first end of play.
The colour of rocks for each team shall be noted on the score sheets and scoreboard.
Only one player from each team may sweep behind the tee line at any time. No player shall commence to sweep an opponent’s stone until it reaches the tee line the further distance from the delivery point.
The annual meeting will be held in Brandon on a selected date in May and the semi-annual meeting will be held on a selected date in September. The location of the semi-annual meeting is open to invitation.
In Provincial playoffs a round robin draw will be used with qualifying teams being determined by win/loss scenario. Skills competitions will only be used if there still remains a tie in the pool.
For district and provincial playoffs one curler 55 – 59 years of age may play any position.
Each district will give a donation of $100.00 to Provincial Golden Gals Association annually to be sent to Treasurer before Provincial playoffs.
District winner pins will be discontinued and Pins and Trophies Committee will decide on appropriate gift for winning and second place teams at Provincial level.
Upon dissolution of Golden Gals Curling Association, all remaining funds will be divided among the districts with clubs that have participated in Gold Gals Curling with the last five years with the stipulation that the monies be utilized for the promotion of 60+ women curling.
